While we are proud of the high degree of experience and training among our teaching faculty, we are most excited by their commitment and passion for the Torah, the learning process and the individual student.  Nothing can replace warmth and dedication by good people of character who truly care.
Rabbi Klestzick  (Administrative)  Email
Rabbi Hal Klestzick attended Queens College in New York and received his Rabbinical Ordination from Yeshiva Bnai Torah in New York in 1980. He did extensive graduate studies in the Master of Arts Program at Antioch University, at Adelphi University in New York and at the University of Calgary (Department of Curriculum and Instruction) in Calgary, Canada. Prior to joining RTA in 1989, he taught grades 3-9 at the Seattle Hebrew Academy for six years, and then served as Principal of Akiva Academy in Calgary for four years. Rabbi Klestzick also conducted various teacher training workshops and was an instructor at the Torah Umesorah Teachers Institute in New York.

Mrs. Klosenberg  (General Studies)  Email
Mrs. Klosenberg received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami with a major in Finance and Economics. She received a Master of Science degree from Nova University with a major in Mathematical Education. She has 28 years of teaching experience in math, science and computers, and has coached winning math competition teams on the local, state and national levels in pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, and Geometry. In 1996 she represented the National Society for Hebrew Day Schools at the Blue Ribbon conference in Washington sponsored by the Department of Education. She was an adjunct faculty in the math department at Virginia Commonwealth University for eleven years, andcontinues to be a member of the Greater Richmond Council for Teachers of Mathematics. Mrs. Klosenberg has been a member of the RTA faculty since September 1991and joined Shaarei Torah in 2002 and the Yeshiva in 2005.

Mr. Lewis  (General Studies)
Mr. Dabney Lewis rejoined our staff in 2009 as History teacher at YVA. Mr. Lewis earned his Bachelors of Arts in History from Lynchburg College and his Masters Degree in Education and Supervision from University of Virginia. He previously taught for nine years at RTA and has also been a small business owner for twenty years.

Mrs. Schaefer  (General Studies)  Email
Mrs. Schaefer graduated Cum Laude from the University of Richmond with dual degrees in Art and Biology. She spent the next eight years gaining extensive laboratory experience, working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture conducting plan and insect research, and then with the Medical College of Virginia managing the molecular genetics lab. Mrs. Schaefer taught at the New Community School for five years prior to joining Shaarei Torah in 1994 and the Yeshiva in 2002 and RTA in 2005. She recently completed a Masters degree in Marine Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University's Center for Environmental Studies.

Rabbi Skaist  (Jewish Studies)  Email
Rabbi Skaist received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Queens College and his Rabbinical Ordination from the Rabbinical Seminary of America (Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim) in New York. Following another four years of intensive Torah study at the Yeshiva, he spend eight years teaching grades 1-8 at the Maimonides School in Ottawa, Canada. He then moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he taught grades 5, 7, and 9 at the Rabbi David L. Silver Yeshiva Academy for two years. He has been teaching at RTA and Shaarei Torah since September 1999.
